Aladdin's Genie

The History Behind Aladdin's

Aladdin’s Carpet Cleaning was started in 1994. Jerry and Tim Jankowski assembled the company on the principle that a job well done will ensure repeat business. This philosophy has allowed the company to grow from a one-van carpet and upholstery cleaning company based out of Jerry’s garage to the large restoration firm it is today.

While striving to be the best and most educated carpet and upholstery cleaners, Jerry and his son Tim soon discovered an untapped facet of the business, water damage restoration. The Jankowski’s began to realize the need in the industry for a true restorative drying company and decided they were up to the challenge. Just as with carpet cleaning, education, the proper equipment, and industry advancement were their top priorities. Later research led Aladdin’s into the fire and smoke restoration industry as well. Attention to detail and customers’ needs and desires grew Aladdin’s into the largest restoration firm in the county and the surrounding areas, providing unique services to meet the needs of each client. By 1999 the company had seen so much growth the move to their current facility was required. The year 2001 brought with it the need for yet another expansion, so an additional warehouse building was constructed at the site.

Aladdin’s Restorative Drying became a Vortex certified firm in September 1999 when both Jerry and Tim attended the Vortex Drying System School in Tennessee (For more information on VDS visit our affiliates page). Since that time all of Aladdin's technicians have attended. “Aladdin’s is out of the dumpster feeding business,” declared Jerry Jankowski, “The Vortex Drying System gave us the knowledge needed to propel our company to the top and has given us a leading edge with reduced cost over our competitors.” Before companies were able to dry all of the structure and its contents, items such as carpet pad, drywall, and insulation were removed from the home and replaced. Now that technology has made this practice obsolete it is referred to as "Dumpster Feeding" (to make sure you're not hiring a dumpster feeding restoration firm visit our HomeOwner Hints page for tips to spot Dumpster Feeders).

“We are able to quickly and controllably dry structures in a reduced time,” Tim Jankowski remarks, “And policy holders are happy to have their property quickly restored to pre-loss condition.” Aladdin’s core is education and our marketing philosophy is the same, “We want to use our knowledge to educate others.” Aladdin’s uses this approach on every job and explains the drying process to each client.

“Using Psychrometry we have a better understanding of the drying process and what we can expect of our equipment,” states Steve Burgess, Aladdin’s Project Manager, “We can handle more jobs with less labor. When we enter a job we can accurately predict how it will dry. Insurance companies call on us because they know they won’t have to call us back for additional repairs. Homeowners love us because we work with them and explain each step along the way.” Aladdin’s is also working to become a trusted advisor to the insurance industry by providing informational resources, educational seminars, Continuing Education (CE) classes and assistance in any way they can. Adjusters and Agents for State Farm, Citizens, Allstate, Auto Owners, AAA and Frankenmuth are among the Michigan insurers who have sent their employees directly to Aladdin’s Restorative Drying to learn the science of water damage restoration.

Michigan Air Duct Cleaning became a part of the Aladdin’s family in 2001. With the addition of an air duct cleaning company Aladdin’s is now able to offer the service to clients who have had fire or smoke damage. After a fire, cleaning the soot and odors out of the HVAC system should be a priority before other areas of the structure are cleaned. Michigan Air Duct Cleaning offers professional cleaning using the most advanced technology, allowing customers to see, via a wireless video camera, the inside of their ductwork before and after it has been cleaned.

Aladdin’s Bio-Scene Recovery was formed in 2002 to fill the need of a local biohazardous cleaning service. The Bio-Scene Recovery division works to restore locations that have been effected with blood and areas where a crime or trauma situations have happened. OSHA has specific standards that must be met when cleaning Bloodborne pathogens and how specifically that waste must be handled. Aladdin’s Bio-Scene Recovery has become the leading firm in the area for this service.

The philosophy that Jerry and Tim Jankowski started Aladdin’s with is still the underlying theme. “We believe that our commitment to education and superior customer service has made us the company we are today and will continue to speed our growth in the future,” says Jerry. “We are proud of the services we offer to our customers, our vast collection of specialty equipment, including one of the largest desiccant dehumidifiers in the state of Michigan, and the employment opportunities we offer to the community.”
