Welcome to Michigan Air Duct Cleaning

Why clean your air ducts?

  • A building's air ducts act as its respiratory system. Dirt, dust, debris and microbial growth accumulate in air ducts, making it difficult for the building to "breathe" properly and function efficiently.
  • More than 70% of all indoor air quality problems involve the HVAC system.
  • Dirty air ducts are an ideal breeding ground for mold spores, mildew, bacteria, and other health-threatening microbial growth.
  • Dirty air ducts can also result in higher utility bills, reduced air supply, and premature failure of expensive HVAC components.
  • Maintaining clean air ducts saves you money while reducing the effects of illnesses associated with airborne contaminants.
  • The average American spends 90% of their time indoors.
  • Indoor air pollution is one of the top environmental concerns in the country.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that indoor air pollutant levels may be two to five times higher than the pollutant levels outdoors.

What contributes to poor indoor air quality?

Today's homes are built energy efficient to "hold" air inside - avoiding heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer. Of course, what's better for your energy bills isn't necessarily better for indoor air quality. This type of construction doesn't allow the home to breathe.

Fungi

To know if your ducts need to be cleaned, ask yourself these questions:

  • Do people in your home suffer from allergy, sinus, or bronchial problems?
  • Are the areas around your vent covers soiled or discolored?
  • Are there any unusual odors when the furnace or air conditioning are operating?
  • Do you notice that dust seems to resettle shortly after you've finished dusting?
  • Have you experienced a recent fire or water loss, or recently remodeled your home?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, it may be time to have your ducts cleaned.

For more information check out the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA ) Indoor Air Quality Division report, EPA-402-K-97-002, entitled "Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned?"
