Carpet Spotting Advice
Spots are one of the biggest concerns people have about their carpet. While it is true that not every spot can be removed, often some simple steps can be taken to increase chances of removal. We at Aladdin's realize that it is not feasible to have the entire carpet cleaned every time something is spilled, so we offer you a few helpful hints to take care of spots between cleanings.
- Watch for spots. In most cases the sooner you can attempt to remove the spot the better.
- NEVER scrub a spot. This is more likely to set the spot than to remove it, and it can damage your carpet fibers in the process.
- Don't automatically reach for off the shelf carpet spotters. Some spotters will leave residue behind that will attract more dirt to the area. If you have had Aladdin's clean your carpets recently, use the complementary bottle of spotting treatment given to you by the technicians first. If you have not had your carpets cleaned lately, and do not have a bottle of Aladdin's complementary spotter, mix 3 cups of cold water with 1 cup of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the mix on a white towel and dab the spot until it is removed. Again, please do not scrub the spot. If the spot still won't come out, make a note of what caused it, so that on their next visit your carpet cleaners are better able to decide which processes to use to attempt removal of the spot.
